Terms & Conditions
Last updated: April 2026
1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the-vow.co.uk and any related applications, services, or features offered by The Vow ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the platform in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the platform. We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes have been published constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of material changes via email or an in-platform notification.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and The Vow. If you are using the platform on behalf of a business or organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
2. Platform Description
The Vow is an online wedding management platform designed to connect engaged couples with wedding professionals ("vendors"), and to provide tools for planning, communication, and coordination throughout the wedding journey. The platform is accessible via the-vow.co.uk and is intended for use by:
- Couples — individuals planning a wedding who wish to discover vendors, manage bookings, and coordinate their event.
- Vendors — wedding professionals (including photographers, make-up artists, musicians, videographers, and other service providers) who wish to list their services, manage enquiries, and administer their business.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the platform at any time, with or without notice, although we will endeavour to provide reasonable advance notice of significant changes wherever possible.
3. Account Registration
To access most features of the platform you must register for an account. When registering, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information about yourself or your business.
- Maintain and promptly update your account information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.
- Keep your password confidential and not share it with any third party. You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us immediately at hello@the-vow.co.uk if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account or any other security breach.
- Not create multiple accounts to circumvent account restrictions or suspensions.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account where we have reasonable grounds to believe that the information provided is inaccurate, misleading, or in breach of these Terms. You must be at least 18 years of age to register an account.
4. Vendor–Couple Relationship
The Vow is a technology platform that facilitates connections between couples and wedding professionals. We are not a party to any agreement, contract, or transaction entered into between couples and vendors. Any contract for the provision of wedding services is made directly between the relevant couple and vendor.
We make no representations or warranties regarding the quality, suitability, safety, reliability, or legality of any vendor listed on the platform. We do not vet, endorse, or guarantee the services of any vendor, and we strongly encourage couples to conduct their own due diligence, including requesting references, reviewing contracts, and verifying insurance and qualifications where appropriate.
Any dispute arising out of a vendor–couple transaction is to be resolved directly between the parties. While we may, at our discretion, assist with facilitating communication in the event of a dispute, we have no obligation to do so and accept no liability for the outcome of any such dispute.
5. Subscription & Payment
Certain features of the platform are available only to users who hold an active paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed on a monthly basis via Stripe, our authorised payment processor. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your nominated payment method at the start of each billing period.
All prices are displayed inclusive of VAT where applicable. We reserve the right to amend subscription prices at any time, provided we give you at least 30 days' written notice before any price increase takes effect. If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you may cancel your subscription before the new pricing period begins.
You may cancel your subscription at any time via your account settings or by contacting us at hello@the-vow.co.uk. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period; you will not be charged for subsequent periods, and no pro-rata refund will be issued for any unused portion of the current period unless required by applicable law or as described in our Cancellation Policy.
If a payment fails and remains outstanding after reasonable attempts to collect, we reserve the right to restrict or suspend access to paid features until the outstanding amount is settled.
6. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the platform — including but not limited to the software, source code, design, graphics, user interface, branding, trademarks, and written content produced by us — are owned by or licensed to The Vow and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the platform for its intended purpose. This licence does not include any right to:
- Copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the platform or its content.
- Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on the platform.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any software forming part of the platform.
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks on the platform.
Any unauthorised use of our intellectual property may result in account termination and may give rise to legal action.
7. User Content
You retain ownership of any content you upload, submit, or otherwise make available via the platform ("User Content"), including profile information, images, portfolio items, reviews, and messages.
By uploading User Content, you grant The Vow a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content solely for the purposes of operating and improving the platform. This licence terminates when you delete the content or close your account, subject to any retention obligations described in our Privacy Policy.
You represent and warrant that: (a) you own or have the necessary rights to submit the User Content; (b) the User Content does not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party; and (c) the User Content does not contain material that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
We reserve the right — but have no obligation — to review, edit, or remove User Content that we believe, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful to users or the platform.
8. Prohibited Conduct
When using the platform, you must not:
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Upload, transmit, or distribute any malware, viruses, spyware, or other malicious code.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform, other user accounts, or any systems or networks connected to the platform.
- Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from the platform by automated means without our prior written consent.
- Send unsolicited commercial communications (spam) to other users or use the platform's messaging features for promotional purposes not related to legitimate wedding service enquiries.
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent reviews or testimonials about any vendor or couple.
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any security measures, access controls, or technical limitations of the platform.
- Use the platform in any manner that could overburden, disable, or impair our servers or infrastructure.
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate against any other user on the basis of any protected characteristic.
Breach of this section may result in immediate account suspension or termination without notice, and may be referred to the relevant authorities where criminal conduct is suspected.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The Vow shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or business interruption, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the platform, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to us in subscription fees during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components, nor that any defects will be corrected.
10. Termination
You may close your account at any time by visiting your account settings or by contacting us at hello@the-vow.co.uk. Closure will take effect at the end of your current billing period if you hold a paid subscription, or immediately for free accounts. Please refer to our Cancellation Policy for details on data retention following account closure.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms, engaged in fraudulent or illegal activity, or that your use of the platform poses a risk to other users or to the platform itself. In cases of serious breach we may terminate access immediately.
Upon termination, your licence to use the platform ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including but not limited to sections on Intellectual Property, User Content, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law — shall survive.
11. Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
You and The Vow agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales to resolve any legal dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the platform, without prejudice to any right you may have as a consumer to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
